Blenheim Palace Centrepiece Lawn Reinstatement

August 2024

Following the conclusion of the fourth European Political Community summit on Thursday 18th July 2024, Fineturf were appointed to reinstate the centrepiece lawned garden at Blenheim Palace. An area of 8000sq metres was stripped, prepared and re-lawned in a process that took one week to complete ready to host a series of events over the summer.

With the event infrastructure causing significant damage to the turf, the first step was to strip off and remove the existing surface, executed with a tractor-mounted turf cutter. The profile was then cultivated and verti-drained. Following this, the aerated and levelled surface was prepared for an application of Greentec 6-5-18+MgO+4Fe fine turf fertiliser at a rate of 35g per sq metre.

With the project requiring a tight turnaround, the surface was then laid with Tillers Arena Gold Turf. Blending the very best cultivars, Arena Gold from Tillers Turf is durable and adaptable, seeing its use throughout domestic and commercial applications and has been proven to be particularly suited to areas subject to high wear and tear.

The finished lawn was then handed back to the custodianship of the Blenheim Palace grounds and gardens department. Fineturf were delighted to receive overwhelmingly positive feedback from the venue on the project and quality of the end result and look forward to supporting them again in the future.
