Briars Lane School Sports Pitch Construction

Fineturf have just completed 7,000m2 of sports pitches for Balfour Beatty at Briars Lane School, Hatfield.

Following the first phase of the project, landscaping and shaping the embankments, the pitch construction began. The old surface was sprayed and then removed using a GKB Combinator. Approximately 1,300m3 of cut and fill was required to create the initial levels. The topsoil was then decompacted and laser graded. Sports sand was spread at a depth of 25mm and ameliorated into the top 75mm of the surface.

The sports pitches had a main drain, lateral drains and a soakaway installed and 225mm sand slits were also installed during the construction phase.

Finally, a 14:6:8 fertiliser was applied and the surface sown with Limagrain MM60 grass seed.
