London Golf Club Tee and Bunker Construction
April 2014
Fineturf have recently returned to London Golf Club, The International Course, to construct two new tour tees on the 7th and 13th holes and two new bunkers on the 16th. The course improvements were requested following the clubs excellent news in February when it was asked to host the prestigious 2014 Volvo World Match Play Championship.
The new tees were shaped from on site material and v-shaped drainage trenches cut into the formations. All debris was removed from the trenches, 80mm perforated drainage pipe laid and the trenches back filled with washed drainage gravel. USGA rootzone was imported and laser graded. Finally the tees were hand raked ready for turf. The tee tops were turfed with washed Tillers Arena Bargold and the banks turfed with sanded Tillers Arena.
On the 16th fairway we constructed two new bunkers, one on each side that would help to narrow the landing zone. The existing turf was removed and the bunkers excavated and shaped. Both bunkers were drained into a soakaway. The banks were top soiled using site material and surrounds prepped by hand. Finally, the banks were turfed and sand added.
