Loughborough Phoenix Bowls Club Green Renovation

Loughborough Phoenix Bowls was formed in 2015 from the merger of two bowls clubs in Loughborough dating from 1899 and 1946. In September, following the 2017 season, we renovated the green and installed new timber edging.
A big roll turf harvester removed the existing surface. We cultivated the subsoil and laser graded using a mid mounted laser. We spread and ameliorated rootzone into the cultivated topsoil. We re-laser graded the surface and raked by hand ready for the application of a 6:5:18 fertiliser and Limagrain MM10 bowling green seed.
During the project we installed a new HC4 treated timber edge. The HC4 treatment provides a long lasting edge and replaces traditional timber that has a tendency to decay due to its permanent contact with the subsoil. We installed the new edging using laser equipment.
